Founded: 1966.
Its activities are based upon the universities of Debrecen and Szeged, as well as on the geological exploration and mining enterprises operating in the region. The aims are: to inform the professionals, to inform the large public about news related to geology concerning the region, such as: utilisation of geothermal energy, oil and gas exploration, furthermore to give popularizing lectures, and to call attention to the natural treasures of the region, e.g. the Natural Parks Kiskunság, Körös-Maros, and Hortobágy.
